This lightweight, 1.1 lb. compact driver features a top-mounted slide switch that extends the tool’s drive shaft up to 2 in. for greater reach. There are nine set positions, from 0 to 2 in. to handle a variety of jobs. The longer drive shaft improves control and visibility and helps the user align the bit straight with the screw. This reduces stripped screw heads and worn bits. Also, the chuck is offset to provide better access in tight quarters. An auto spindle lock allows the tool to be used as a manual screwdriver.
“It’s a great glove box screwdriver and with the extended drive shaft, the XTD can handle a lot of jobs,” said Jeanne White WORX Senior Product Manager. “There are lots of choices out there, but no other powered screwdriver has the extendable drive shaft feature.”
The WORX XTD Extended Reach Driver is powered by a 4V Lithium-ion, built-in 1.5 Ah battery. Lithium-ion batteries can hold a charge for up to 18 months. The plug-in charger recharges the driver in 5 hours. The XTD housing is constructed of nylon composite with a comfortable, smooth rubber grip on the handle. It has a two-finger trigger, an LED light to illuminate the work area, plus a forward/reverse button to change directions. The driver has a ¼-in. chuck, no-load speed of 230 rpm and maximum torque rating of 36 in.-lbs.
The XTD kit includes the Driver, six screwdriving bits: Phillips #0, 1, 2; Slotted #6, Square recess #2 and T15 and T20 Torx bits, plus a plug-in charger. The drive tool has a 3-year warranty.
The WORX 4V XTD Extended Reach Driver (WX252L, $34.99) is expected to be available in October at worx.com and other websites, including Amazon, Menards and Lowe’s, as well as regional hardware and home centers nationwide.
