"Who is That in the Mirror?"

I believe it is my responsibility to share the wealth of knowledge that Home Care Assistance has with the community.

Home Care Assistance of Douglas County, a leading provider of in-home care for seniors, is dedicated to partnering with other community members in an effort to increase awareness around longevity and aging. In line with this commitment to community education and the company’s expertise in quality dementia care, Home Care Assistance of Douglas County is partnering with representatives from the Vi at Highlands Ranch, Legacy Hospice and the 50 & Better Together Senior Outreach of Highlands Ranch to host a free, three-part public workshop on Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The upcoming presentation of “Who Is That in the Mirror?” will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM this Saturday, October 4th. The presentation will be held at the Highlands Ranch Library and will cover practical tips to maintain connection and engagement with loved ones suffering from some form of dementia. Lunch will be provided.

“I believe it is my responsibility to share the wealth of knowledge that Home Care Assistance has with the community,” said Jonathan Wells, Owner of Home Care Assistance of Douglas County. “Dementia is one of the most significant long-term health challenges we face. Providing public education to reduce caregiver burnout and improve quality of life is clearly in line with our mission to change the way the world ages.”

More than six million people are living with Alzheimer’s in the United States and Canada alone, and this number is expected to more than double by 2050. With over 40 percent of Home Care Assistance clients diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia, the company has produced a number of resources including specialized caregiver trainings through Home Care Assistance University, various printed resources and public webinars for those caring for someone with dementia and a cognitive intervention program designed to improve quality of life and delay the progression of dementia-related symptoms. The fifth book in the company’s award-winning, healthy longevity book series, Mind Over Grey Matter: A New Approach to Dementia Care, offers practical guidance on caring for an individual with dementia as well as evidence-based techniques to improve quality of life. By being proactive and identifying potential problems that dementia sufferers may encounter, caregivers can better provide for their safety and wellbeing.
