Summit Medical Group Breast Care Center has recently been recognized as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence in the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers Program™ (NQMBC™).

Summit Medical Group Breast Care Center has recently been recognized as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence in the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers Program™ (NQMBC™). This distinguished honor represents a commitment by this breast center to provide the highest level of quality breast health care to patients in their community. This level of certification in the NQMBC™ Program is valid for one year.

Measuring and comparing quality performance is essential in assessing patient care and allocating resources where improvement is desired. In today's dynamic health care industry, breast centers are faced with providing quality care while simultaneously keeping costs under control. A center's staff must not only be familiar with existing standards of care, but must also be aware of new advances in technology. Summit Medical Group Breast Care Center actively ensures they provide the best possible quality care to breast patients in their community.

With the majority of its services located under one roof, the Summit Medical Group Breast Care Center offers comprehensive support and care of benign breast health conditions and all stages of breast cancer.

In addition to expert breast exams, diagnosis, and treatment, the Summit Medical Group Breast Care Center team empowers its patients with education so that they can partner with their physicians to make informed decisions. Personalized treatment plans help ensure the best possible outcomes while assisting patients in adjusting to, coping with, and managing their disease.

The Summit Medical Group Breast Care Center welcomes newly diagnosed patients as well as those with recurrent disease from its own and other practices throughout New Jersey/New York metropolitan area.

Women receiving care at SMG’s Breast Care Center have access to Breast Health Navigation Services, including:

  • Guidance through the health care system
  • Education and support after an abnormal mammogram
  • Coordinated health care service for additional testing and treatment
  • Referral to local counseling resources
  • Referrals for financial assistance
  • Answers to questions
  • Educational information about breast health, breast cancer, and other breast diseases

Certified breast health nurse navigators at SMG’s Breast Care Center help ensure that patients get timely access to breast care services and information. They coordinate breast care to help minimize delayed and missed appointments and help ensure patients have a satisfying health care experience.

The National Consortium of Breast Centers is proud to recognize Summit Medical Group Breast Care Center as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence.

The National Quality Measures for Breast Centers™ were developed by referencing the Health Care Advisory Board's Clinical Quality Dash Board for breast centers published in the fall of 2004. The National Quality Measures for Breast Centers™ reflect more than five years of work, which has culminated in the adoption of more than 33 National Quality Indicators™.

The National Consortium of Breast Centers promotes excellence in breast health care for the general public through a network of diverse professionals dedicated to the active exchange of ideas and resources. It serves as an informational resource and provides support services to those rendering care to people with breast diseases through educational programs, newsletters, a national directory and patient forums. It encourages professionals to concentrate and specialize in activities related to breast disease and encourages the development of programs and centers that address breast disease and promote breast health. It facilitates collaborative research opportunities on issues of breast health; and developed a set of core measures to define, improve and sustain quality standards in breast health care programs and for quality performance in all types of breast health care
