...our campus becomes ‘neutral’ ground for pastors to discuss how they can partner together for the sake of bringing the Gospel to the people of New York State.
Houghton, NY (PRWEB) October 08, 2014
Houghton College will host its first annual ministry conference entitled “We are the Pastors of New York State,” which will feature over 18 speakers, including pastors from throughout the state of New York as well as lecturers and workshop leaders. The one day conference will take place October 20, 2014. A $20 fee covers the conference, lunch and refreshments. Director for the office of ministry resources at Houghton College, Steve Dunmire, said, “There are some things Houghton can do for pastors because we are not a church, and so our campus becomes ‘neutral’ ground for pastors to discuss how they can partner together for the sake of bringing the Gospel to the people of New York State.”
Unlike most ministry conferences that are built around a certain personality, author, or teacher, this is a ministry conference for New York State pastors by New York State pastors.
According to the Barna Group, six of the top 25 “post-Christian” cities in the United States are located in New York State. Houghton’s goal, as New York’s top Christian College (according to Forbes), is to provide pastors with a place to collaborate and take on this challenging ministry opportunity.
According to Dunmire, 100 percent of the proceeds from the day are being reinvested into church planting efforts throughout New York State.
