With a reputation for successfully helping Southern Texas patients with arthritis and other inflammatory diseases, South Texas Arthritis Care Center is expanding its influence overseas. The center’s lead physician, Dr. Emily Pineda had the opportunity to share her expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound in Hong Kong alongside some of the world’s top experts at the Diagnostics Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and Injections Techniques Workshop this summer.

South Texas Arthritis Care Center specializes in providing state of the art diagnosis and treatment for adults affected by musculoskeletal conditions and autoimmune diseases. Sharing that expertise with other physicians has been a rewarding experience for Dr. Pineda.

“Teaching in Hong Kong in the company of so many brilliant experts has been a tremendous and humbling experience. I’m proud to be able to share my experience with a broader audience,” Dr. Pineda said.

The three-day course offered a lot of hands-on opportunities for learning. Sessions included training in elbow and wrist, ankle and foot, and sacral spine, pelvis and lumbar spine with live models. Dr. Pineda has taught at several MSKUS workshops throughout the United States sharing her expertise in some of the industry’s cutting edge technologies.

“As a physician I’m grateful to be able to assist so many patients live a more fulfilling and healthful lifestyle and by sharing what I’ve learned through years of practicing medicine and teaching other doctors I hope that many more providers can help even more patients with musculoskeletal conditions to obtain a higher quality of life,” Dr. Pineda said.

Dr. Pineda possesses the new Registered in Musculoskeletal Sonography (RMSK) credential that raises the standard of musculoskeletal sonography and enhanced patient safety. She is also a faculty member of MSKUS, an instructional group of medical professionals that specializes in the basic and advanced instructional education and advancement of musculoskeletal ultrasound guidance and diagnostic ultrasound.
