Stay Aspen Snowmass reviewed 2014/15 winter flights into Aspen Snowmass, and concluded that the upcoming season will see both additional daily flights to and from major hubs, like Los Angeles, Houston, and Chicago, as well as service extended through Easter Sunday 2015.

According to Stay Aspen Snowmass president, Bill Tomcich, there will be a total of 3,167 flights in and out of the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport between the dates of December 1, 2014 and April 30, 2015. However, the airlines that service the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport, United, American, and Delta, are expected to adjust their schedules week-by-week, so this flight total is expected to change by the end of the ski season in the spring of 2015.

In comparing the tentative Aspen winter flight schedule to that of last year, the difference is an increase in flights by 159.

The upward swing in flight availability to and from the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport is a trend evident in data from the 2013/14 winter season. As detailed in a recent Aspen Times article, the Aspen airport offered more commercial flights than five other airports serving Colorado ski resorts.*

Furthermore, Tomcich noted that the Aspen airport will be the only mountain resort airport this year offering nonstop flights from Chicago, Houston, and Los Angeles in early December. The direct flights from these three major hubs present Aspen Snowmass with a unique opportunity to provide visitors with a more convenient travel option even earlier in the ski season.

Daily nonstop flights from both Houston and Chicago will resume on December 3, 2014. The next day, December 4, 2014, daily nonstop flights from Los Angeles will resume.

As previously mentioned, the airlines' flight schedules are expected to change week-by-week. To view the most up-to-date flight schedules for any given day, visit timetables.oag.com/ase2.
