Recruiting Trends and Great Place to Work®’s Great Rated!™ announced Ray Kallas of Atmos Energy as the 2014 Recruiter of the Year. The award was presented today at the Recruiting Trends Conference at the Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Kallas was selected from among several hundred nominees, submitted from organizations around the world.

Ray is the Talent Acquisition Manager at Texas-based natural gas distributor Atmos Energy. Atmos Energy has been recognized as a Best Place to Work in four states. Ray is responsible for developing, managing and streamlining all recruiting processes as well as developing the strategic direction for the employment branding initiative. He was nominated many times over for both his achievements at Atmos Energy and for his efforts in his community.

“By working with a local Dallas news station to develop a free ‘job of the day’ segment, he highlighted job opportunities in the Dallas area while building Atmos Energy’s name recognition,” said one colleague. He also developed relationships with two state universities and is a frequent guest speaker on the David Rawles Career Connection radio program. Nominations noted that he balances these creative approaches to employer branding with meaningful metrics.

“We received hundreds of very impressive nominations, but it was impossible to ignore Ray Kallas,” says RD Whitney, Executive Director of Recruiting Trends. “He was nominated by current colleagues, former colleagues, recruits he had placed successfully, and people he’s connected with in his community to build a pipeline to bring in top talent. It was clear to the nominating committee that Ray was recruiting effectively – filling an impressive number of positions annually – while providing a superior candidate experience and earning the trust of his colleagues and hiring managers.”

“Ray’s creative win-win solution to address an aging workforce really stood out,” said Kim Peters, CEO of Great Rated! “By partnering with the marketing departments at Texas A&M and University of North Texas to research Atmos Energy’s brand image, Ray successfully built programs to attract recent grads, and expanded brand awareness on campus.”

The Recruiting Trends Conference is currently underway at the Mirage Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
