For over 25 years, Helix Education’s innovative technology platforms and data-driven Marketing and Enterprise Services have helped higher ed institutions find, enroll, retain and teach students.

CBE has emerged as an innovative educational model capable of helping students more effectively learn," said Hoppes.

Helix Education, a world class provider of student life cycle technologies and services, is presenting its insight and expertise on Competency-Based Education (CBE) at this year's Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools' (ACICS) Annual Conference, which kicks off today in New Orleans. The session will cover considerations when implementing a CBE program, as well as the importance of data and outcomes, which are critical pieces of the accreditation process.

"CBE has emerged as an innovative educational model capable of helping students more effectively learn. That said, as CBE moves away from the traditional focus on seat time for credit, institutions and accrediting agencies are challenged to create fair and meaningful policies that accurately measure and award credit based on performance," said Cherron Hoppes, Chief Academic Officer at Helix Education. "We are looking forward to exploring CBE with ACICS attendees and creating a dialog where we can all learn from and support each other to ensure the effectiveness of CBE programs and the integrity of outcomes."

Dustin Hilt, who serves as Program Analyst at Simmons College and is leading the school's exploration into CBE, is joining Helix Education's Steve Pappageorge, Chief Product Officer, and Sarah Horn, Director of University Partnerships, for this insightful panel. "Five Things You Should Know About Competency-Based Education" takes place on Wednesday, November 5th at 1:30 p.m.

ACICS attendees will learn how CBE works, as well as have the opportunity to discover the roles of instructional methods, integration strategies, instructional design, course creation, and student support. Attendees will also see what is involved in the transition to a CBE program and learn how data can help tailor the learning experience and support successful student outcomes.

ACICS is one of the most respected and longest established national accreditors of academic institutions in the United States. ACICS is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and currently accredits more than 900 institutions in this country and abroad.
