Silver Spring, MD, October 31: Today 16 bloggers around the world start Hostelling International’s (HI) Big Blog Exchange (BBE), embarking on a 10-day exchange with another blogger to experience his or her country through an HI hostelling adventure. Hostelling International USA (HI USA) is hosting French travel blogger Lucie Aidart at 4 vibrant, urban hostels. She will be swapping blogs and countries with American lifestyle blogger Taralynn McNitt.

An experienced global traveler, Lucie will be arriving in the U.S. from Laos. To introduce Lucie to the real American experience, HI USA created an itinerary based on local experiences in Washington, DC, Baltimore, San Diego, and Austin. Each city visit is filled with activities, festivities, and classic American traditions:

HI Washington DC: Her stay begins today in the nation’s capital, where she’ll join other hostellers for the city’s largest Halloween celebration in Georgetown.

HI Baltimore: Lucie will next visit “Charm City” and join fellow hostellers to watch the Baltimore Ravens take on the Pittsburg Steelers for the Sunday evening game on November 2.

HI San Diego Downtown: Her next stop is sunny San Diego, where she’ll spend most of her time outdoors embracing the SoCal vibe.

HI Austin: Lucie’s final stop is in Austin, the Live Music Capital of the World, where she’ll get to experience the music scene for herself at the Fun Fun Fun Fest.

Taralynn McNitt, Lucie’s exchange partner, is making her first trip overseas. Although a little nervous, she will be surrounded by a community of travelers at each HI hostel, who will help her make the most of her 10-day journey across France.

Through November 9, follow Lucie’s adventures in the U.S. on Taralynn’s blog, and follow Taralynn’s adventures in France on Lucie’s blog. For more information on the hostels featured in Lucie’s itinerary and other HI USA hostels nationwide, visit HI USA's website.
