Elopement issues are common for some children living with Autism Spectrum disorders, and having access to alarm services that can alert parents to any possible problems immediately is of great need.
Orem, Utah (PRWEB) November 04, 2014
NorthStar Alarm and the Autism Resources of Utah County Council have partnered together to create a special ongoing essay contest that provides home security systems and monitoring free of cost for families with children on the autism spectrum. The program will select three families annually from the pool of applicants to receive a NorthStar Alarm home security system equipped with the latest Honeywell technology and NorthStar monitoring services, a package priced at $2,500.
“We have had this program in the works for quite some time now and couldn't be happier with how well it fits our company’s mission,” said Jason Christensen, President of NorthStar Alarm. “As a father of young children, I understand that the safety and protection of my children is a constant concern. Having friends with autistic children, I understand the even greater challenge this kind of protection can be. We are excited to be able to provide these families some relief and peace of mind”
The winners of the contest will receive a complete wireless home security system with door and window sensors, motion detectors, advanced protection logic, two way voice, and mobile alert capabilities through the award-winning Total Connect app. The mobile alerts are among the features NorthStar believes to be the greatest benefit for parents of children with autism because they can provide real-time text alerts when doors or windows open, ensuring additional certainty of their children’s whereabouts.
“We are so grateful to Northstar Alarm for their generosity in helping families in our community. This award will allow for safety and the subsequent peace of mind that comes when parents know their children are protected. Elopement issues are common for some children living with Autism Spectrum disorders, and having access to alarm services that can alert parents to any possible problems immediately is of great need.” Laurie
Bowen – Co-Chair of the ARUCC.
The program is scheduled to run annually and will open for entries for the first time in January 2015. All families who are associated with members of the Autism Resources of Utah County Council are eligible for the contest.
