Thought Technology will be exhibiting its full line of psychophysiological monitoring equipment at Medica Trade Fair November 12-15, 2014, in Dusseldorf, Germany. Among products on display will be the BioGraph Infiniti product line for use in physical medicine, mental health, education, sports and mobile health. They will also launch a new educational initiative designed to provide customers with additional services that enhance and supplement the Biograph Infiniti experience including online learning, onsite workshops at their Montreal, Canada headquarters and regional workshops on demand.
A wide variety of education is offered online from introductory level courses for those just entering the field to "Developer Tools" courses for advanced users who want to customize the Infiniti software to suit their needs. To provide a clinician’s perspective, they have teamed up with experts from the field to teach workshops on specific topics such as stress control, heart rate variability, continence training and rehabilitation.
In a recent Montreal workshop, Dr. Richard Gevirtz discussed the science of heart rate variability as an indicator of general health. Heart rate variability (HRV) refers to the changes in timing between consecutive heart beats. Changes in HRV can be examined under various conditions (when asleep, awake, during physical exertion, relaxed, or under pathological condition) as an indication of overall autonomic nervous system efficiency, and therefore an indicator of general health. Higher HRV levels are correlated to adaptability and positive indications of health, whereas lower HRV suggests insufficient adaptation and negative indications of health. Heart rate variability is a prevalent feature in biofeedback therapy for health, relaxation and optimal performance.
About to embark on their 40th year in business, Thought Technology Vice President Lawrence Klein reflected on his company's growth over the years, "We were the first company to exhibit biofeedback instrumentation at Medica and participation in the trade fair has helped us to build a distribution network and substantially increase our international sales. We are happy to be back again this year and look forward introducing attendees to our products and the benefits of biofeedback to one's overall health and well being."
