According to the Telegraph article dated 26/11/2014 by Sophie Christie: Motorists targeted by new DVLA scam emails, there has been a rise in the attempts by fraudsters to obtain personal details and access to bank accounts of motorists via bogus DVLA emails. The emails ask that the motorist confirm details of driving licences via a link on the website.

A spokesperson from the DVLA said: "We are aware that some members of the public have received these emails and we strongly urge anyone in receipt of this or a similar email to treat it with extreme caution and not to follow the instructions given."

The Telegraph article goes on to say that the Cabinet Office’s Government Digital Service will continue to investigate and act on reports of organisations that may be misleading users about their services or acting illegally.
