In 2014 alone, one out of every three vehicles Ford sole in the US was an F-Series pickup. Now, America’s favorite truck has also become America’s smartest truck, and that’s very exciting.

Car enthusiasts, families and pick up drivers everywhere are discussing the historic and ground-breaking risk that Ford Motor Company has taken to offer the smartest and most fuel efficient Ford F-150 to ever be made; securing the 2015 Ford F-150 in history books for being the very first big truck to be made of aluminum. Now, the Tampa Bay has been gifted the exclusive opportunity to test drive the 2015 F-150 before it’s available to the general public.

“The Ford F-Series has been America’s best-selling truck for 37 years and America’s best-selling vehicle for 32 years,” explains Robert Elder, President of Elder Ford of Tampa. “In 2014 alone, one out of every three vehicles Ford sole in the US was an F-Series pickup. Now, America’s favorite truck has also become America’s smartest truck, and that’s very exciting.”

Ford is using the metal almost exclusively in body of the 2015 version of its best-selling F-150 pickup. The company notes aluminum is lighter than steel but just as tough. The new truck is the company's response to customers' requests for a more fuel-efficient pickup.

For the first time, a pick-up is light-weight and more ‘green’ than ever having improved fuel economy standards (which will be announced in the near future). Bill Ford, the company’s executive chairman was referenced saying “For our customer, this is a big, big leap forward.”

In addition to fuel economy, repairs on aluminum should cost less, making the F-150 a more consumer-friendly vehicle all around.

Aluminum isn't new to the auto industry, but this is the first time it will cover the entire body of such a high-volume vehicle. Ford made 647,697 F-150 pickups at its two U.S. plants last year; that's one every 49 seconds.

The F-150 is tough but it also comes with the bells and whistles of spotlight mirrors, automated tailgate lift and more.

The entire community is invited to test drive the 2015 Ford F-150 at the Drive the Future of Tough Tour on Wed., December 10, 2014 from 5 - 8 p.m. at Elder Ford of Tampa: 9560 North Florida Ave., Tampa, Fla. 33612.

Pre-registration is required. Please visit http://www.f150drive.com/elderoftampa to secure your preferred test drive time slot.
