This December, parent company 858 Graphics launched side project Ten Dollar Sidewalk Signs, which is quickly gained traction as a future leader in the customized signs industry. The new website released a complimentary sign promotion that exponentially increased traffic and engagement in social media.
The promotion awarded one of five motivational signs to the first 1000 users to share the offer on Facebook or Twitter. As a new site, the social media marketing plan was simply to gain brand awareness. Though the action was launched on the 14th, it was the aid of bloggers that set the campaign apart. The handout-- as well as two coupons-- were submitted for review to bargain-finding blogs, and within 24 hours the link saw a drastic increase in traffic.
This is not the first website for Co-Chief Executive Officer, David Hay. He currently manages 15 websites (one of which is the popular SanDiegoHikers.com), but was still overwhelmed by the response. “I sent out an email blast that had a 2% return rate. A couple of days later, this freebie increased engagement from 250 to 3000, with over 15,000 page clicks. I’m used to having zero engagement the first week of a page launch.”
After the first 1000 signs had been designated, Ten Dollar Sidewalk Signs opted to extend the deal. They are now offering 1000 signs to be distributed at random from a pool of followers. The new promotion for the next 1000 signs ends (12/22/14), so check back in to see where this leads.
