Wine Market Council Announces its Tenth Annual Consumer Research Conferences Including Discussions on Americans’ Changing Attitudes Toward Wine

Guest speakers, Eric Asimov and Jon Bonné, will join John Gillespie of Wine Market Council and Danny Brager of Nielsen’s Beverage Alcohol Practice to present at 2015 Conferences

Wine Market Council today announced that Eric Asimov, chief wine critic for The New York Times, and Jon Bonné, wine editor for The San Francisco Chronicle, will present at the tenth annual Wine Market Council consumer research conferences taking place January 27 in New York and February 6 in Napa. At the New York conference, Asimov will discuss changing attitudes toward wine in American culture as it becomes more popular in the United States. At the Napa conference, Bonné will discuss the changes in American wine, the maturing of our wine culture, and the rise of a confident new generation of wine lovers. At the conferences, John Gillespie of Wine Market Council will present data from Wine Market Council’s most recent U.S. adult population segmentation study, the annual survey of high frequency wine drinkers, and data from a study of consumer imported wine purchase and consumption behavior. In addition, Danny Brager, senior vice president, alcoholic beverages, Nielsen, will provide an updated wine industry overview including the most recent trends inclusive of both retail and direct-to-consumer wine channels, as well as perspectives on the battle for occasions within the broader adult beverage industry.

“Every winery is battling for increased sales in a world where consumers have growing options that apart from wine, include a variety of adult beverages,” said Brager. “I will cover the most recent sales trends across beverage alcohol generally and wine specifically, so that wineries can stay as relevant as possible to consumers in an increasingly fragmented world.”

The 2015 Wine Market Council research conferences will take place on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at The Museum of Modern Art in New York, NY, and Friday, February 6, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Theater in Yountville, CA.
