“Our object is to get thoughtful, fresh insight into the cultural diversity issues that continue to challenge us long after Dr. King set a vision for a better more inclusive humanity. Joy Reid also has a broad appeal with younger audiences and we look forward to hearing her thoughts on the continuing relevance of Dr. King’s Dream for future generations,” says Mayor Teresa Tomlinson.

The mission of the Mayor’s Commission on Unity, Diversity and Prosperity is to create a community where every person is valued and presented with equal access to opportunities. The event will allow the community to bring citizens together of all ages, races and walks of life. This event will unify the community and provide opportunities to appropriately honor a man who gave his life in the quest for equality and prosperity for all. The event is being promoted on social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter (#thedreamlives).
