Makeena is a win-win: brands and retailers get a powerful tool to connect directly with shoppers and people get to bring home the healthy and sustainable products they care about.

Makeena, a lifestyle technology company dedicated to connecting brands and shoppers for good, today launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for its powerful location-aware app that helps shoppers save money on healthy and sustainable products.

For a 30-day period shoppers can help fund makeena and be part of a growing movement to make healthy products more affordable. Award levels for makeena funders include a trip to Colorado to ski or snowboard with a pro; a private tour of Bhakti Chai; a farm-to-table dinner with the makeena leadership team; a makeena-branded bamboo iPhone case, and more. Makeena’s proprietary algorithm allows consumers to search by gluten-free, local, non-GMO, organic and vegan, among other product attributes. The makeena app also features shopping lists, social sharing capabilities and the ability for shoppers to request discounts on their favorite products. Makeena shoppers are estimated to save 10 to 100 percent off makeena products, making it possible for budget-wary shoppers to bring home the best.

“Makeena is about helping people live better by making healthy and sustainable products more affordable,” said makeena founder and CEO, Karen Frame. “Makeena is a win-win: brands and retailers get a powerful tool to connect directly with shoppers and people get to bring home the healthy and sustainable products they care about.”

According to New Hope Natural Media, the market for healthy and sustainable products is growing 10 percent annually. Yet many brands struggle to connect with shoppers where it matters most: the grocery store. Makeena allows brands to reach shoppers and introduce their product as they explore, and to incentivize purchase decisions with discounts and coupons.

More brands are signing on as makeena partners every day. Current makeena brand partners include Allera Health, Alter Eco, Among Friends, Barleans, Beanitos, Bhakti Chai, Boulder Cookie, Goddess Garden, Hip Chick Farms, Keen One Quinoa, MD Lash Factor, Namaste, Natu Hair, Nuwi, Outrageous Baking, Quinn Popcorn, Righteously Raw, Roots Food, Saffron Road, Salazon Chocolate, Somersaults, Sun Cups, Sustain Condom, Teatulia, This Bar Saves Lives, True Brush, Tummy Zen, ZaZaRaw, Zevia and Zing Bars.
