The announcement comes as Phenix Salon Suites is about to be featured on the hit reality series, “Undercover Boss.” This first-ever episode of the series to feature a salon company will air Friday, January 9th, on the CBS Television Network.
“This is an incredibly exciting time for us,” said Phenix Founder and President Gina Rivera, who will appear on “Undercover Boss” in disguise as "Ashley" to work with salon professionals at several Phenix locations across the country.
“I learned a lot from this experience,” Rivera said. “I pride myself on fostering connection with the salon professionals who run their businesses in the Phenix franchises. ‘Undercover Boss’ was an opportunity to work with these unsung heroes among us, people who face huge challenges in their lives, but they’re still working hard, taking care of their families and following dreams. They prevail, and that is so inspiring to me.”
“The success of the Phenix business model truly lies in the success of our salon professionals,” Rivera said. “Our core objective is to focus on their needs first, and I believe that is working. Their success is our success, and that’s what put us on Entrepreneur’s Top 500 List in 2015, for the second year in a row.”
Phenix Salon Suites has grown to more than 100 franchise locations across the country in less than three years, providing salon professionals with private suites where they can run their own businesses, keep more of what they earn, set their own hours and chose the products they use and sell. They also escape the sometimes withering drama of an open-floor salon by serving their clients in the privacy of their own suite.
Rivera began her career as a little girl sweeping floors in her parents’ salons, watching them styling hair and chatting with clients. It wasn’t long before she became a successful stylist, working in several open-floor concept salons before deciding, “there has got to be a better way to do this.” The solution became the formula for Phenix Salons, providing private suites, free technical training and opportunity for professional growth and advancement in the atmosphere of an extended family.
As the source and embodiment of the Salon Industry, Rivera is one of the most sought after hair experts in the world with more than 130,000 Facebook fans and more than 100 columns on hair styling technique and trends appearing in the last year in major publications including Modern Salon, Huffington Post, Fashion & Style and Hairbrained. Rivera still styles hair two or three days a week, alongside her stylist father.
