HPF Is Working to Make Sustainable Homeownership Accessible to All Americans

Every American should have a place to call home and the ability to achieve their financial dreams

The Homeownership Preservation Foundation (HPF), the leading independent national non-profit dedicated to guiding consumers onto the path of sustainable homeownership and improving their overall financial health, applauds the Obama Administration’s continued support of sustainable homeownership.

“Every American should have a place to call home and the ability to achieve their financial dreams, “ says David Berenbaum, Chief Executive Officer of HPF, “We look forward to working with the Administration to advance their efforts in making sustainable homeownership more accessible to all communities.”

In 2007, HPF’s Homeowner’s HOPE™ Hotline, 888-995-HOPE™, was established as the national foreclosure prevention hotline by the Bush administration and in 2009 was made the national call to action for the Obama Administration’s “Making Home Affordable” program. The Homeowner’s HOPE™ Hotline has served over 8 million callers and counseled over 2 million homeowners to avoid foreclosure.

HPF echoes President Obama’s view that it is time to turn the page on the flaws of the past and focus on building a housing sector that provides a path to secure homeownership for responsible borrowers and believes that housing counseling is key component to achieving this goal. “There should be no doubt about importance of housing counseling for homeowners”, said David. “Housing counseling that is provided by HUD approved housing counseling agencies is a win-win for homeowners, mortgage servicers, investors, and regulators ”.

HPF will continue to play a critical role as an independent resource for consumers who are already in the process of acquiring a home or dealing with the challenges of current homeownership through its comprehensive, extended financial coaching platform.

SPECIAL NOTE: HPF’s CEO David Berenbaum is available for comment. He is a nationally recognized trusted voice for consumers and a champion for a vibrant mortgage marketplace that celebrates sustainable homeownership, responsible lending, affordable housing and financial education.
