Miracles are happening in neighborhoods across the United States and Canada because Walmart associates understand the urgent needs of children’s hospitals and encourage their customers to give what they can.
Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) January 08, 2015
An award historically given to one individual making a profound impact on children’s hospitals was presented this year to the unnamed “Walmart Associate,” representing 1.4 million Walmart and Sam’s Club associates fundraising for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across North America. The 2014 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Founders Award was presented to representatives of Walmart, Walmart Canada, Walmart logistics and Sam’s Club — on behalf of all associates — at the charity’s annual “Momentum” event, recently held in Orlando, Fla.
The Founders Award is the highest honor presented annually by Children's Miracle Network Hospitals to top supporters. Past award recipients include Roy Disney, longtime senior executive for The Walt Disney Company; Bill Marriott, chairman of Marriott International; and Arnold Palmer, legendary professional golfer.
The six-week Walmart and Sam’s Club Miracle Balloon campaigns raised more than $40 million in the U.S., contributing to the more than $50 million overall total raised for member children’s hospitals in 2014. Community donations are used by local hospitals where they are needed most, funding critical treatments and research, therapy programs, life-saving medical equipment and charitable care.
“Children's Miracle Network Hospitals is an organization I strongly believe in, said Donna Mikrut, Walmart 5060 associate of Algonquin, Ill. “It helps children get great medical care to ensure a healthier, brighter future. At the end of the day that is what makes my heart happier, knowing I helped to make a difference.”
“We recognize the remarkable 2014 Walmart fundraising results are because of compassionate and dedicated front line associates like Donna Mikrut,” said John Lauck, president and CEO of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. “This award allows us to thank all of them for making such a huge impact on children’s care. Miracles are happening in neighborhoods across the United States and Canada because Walmart associates understand the urgent needs of children’s hospitals and encourage their customers to give what they can.”
Since 1987, Walmart and Sam’s Club have raised more than $750 million for 170 local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. To find your member hospital and to learn how to help kids in your community, visit http://www.CMNHospitals.org.
