Westchester Library System Expands Online Resources

Four new resources have been added to the Westchester Library System (WLS) website. Lynda.com, NoveList, Flipster online newsstand, and University of Fashion are available for onsite and remote access, all at no cost with your Westchester library card.

Lynda.com is now available for all Westchester Library Patrons
“These new databases add to the unlimited possibilities available with your library card, said WLS Executive Director Terry Kirchner. “Resources like these provide equal educational access and strengthen quality of life for County residents.”

Lynda.com is a leading online learning company that helps anyone learn business, software, technology and creative skills to achieve personal and professional goals. It includes over 5,000 online video courses taught by professionals in their field of study, with courses organized into eight subject areas: design, developer, web, business, photography, video, audio and 3D.

NoveList is a searchable Reader's Advisory database covering Adult and K-8 fiction. Created especially for people who love books, this online database helps readers of all ages find just the right books to read. NoveList content is displayed on a colorful, graphic-rich homepage that's easy to use and includes expert reading recommendations for fiction titles for all ages.

All Westchester Library System members will have access to 14 popular magazines on FLIPSTER, EBSCO's new Digital Newsstand. Westchester Library patrons can access the following titles online or download to their iPad, iPad mini, Android or Kindle Fire: Car & Driver, Dwell, Ebony, Entertainment Weekly, Food Network Magazine, InStyle, Kiplinger's Personal, Finance, People, People en Español, Prevention, Rolling Stone, Sports Illustrated and Time.

University of Fashion offers fashion professionals and consumers the first ever online fashion design video library, comprised of professionally produced online fashion how-to videos covering the five fashion design disciplines of draping, pattern making, fashion art, sewing and product development. All lessons are taught by select fashion college professors from prestigious fashion colleges and by fashion industry professionals currently working in the fashion industry.
