The Kid to Kid franchise proudly awarded its December Store of the Month award to Brittany Tucker, owner of the Kid to Kid located at 2100 W. Northwest Hwy., Suite #218 in Grapevine, TX for outstanding increase in sales, as well as improvements to store systems.
The Grapevine location was selected from more than 100 Kid to Kid children’s resale stores across the U.S. and Portugal because of an impressive 46 percent increase in sales and 44 percent increase in invoices over the previous year.
“The store’s terrific improvements over the past couple months are a result of implementing significant operational changes,” said the store’s corporate support representative, Jeff Kinsel. Brittany placed a stronger focus on turning product more quickly by consistently checking pricing, and keeping the racks full.
Brittany started her career with Kid to Kid at just 16 years of age. She began working at the Arlington Kid to Kid location, and fell in love with the Kid to Kid concept, the people and the retail community. Five years later, Brittany had worked her way up the ranks and learned about a Kid to Kid franchise for sale.
“Thinking that it wouldn’t be possible, I over-looked the opportunity, but my mom didn’t,” said Brittany. “I guess in this case you can say it pays off to be an only child, because my mom quickly made my dream a reality.” Brittany and her mother, Theresa Tucker purchased the Kid to Kid store in Irving, TX and it continued to grow as Brittany handled the managerial side, and Theresa took care of the finances. In August 2013, the store relocated to Grapevine, and has experienced steady growth since the move.
The Grapevine Kid to Kid location is now one of 16 stores in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. “Although the DFW market is quite competitive, I don’t look at it as much as a competition between stores, but more as a team effort to attract as many loyal customers as possible so each of us can grow year after year,” said Brittany. One of the main ways her store grew last year was through staff training and more defined policies. They focused on the customer – both those who sold product and those who were shopping, and did their best to process all items customers brought in to sell while they were still in the store. This allowed customers to shop while they waited, making it much more convenient to sell and shop, and saving them an extra trip.
Brittany’s passion and dedication to her store has made the franchise location the best it’s ever been, and she has hopes of opening another store in the future. “I love the fact that we help families by paying them for stuff their kids have outgrown as well as help them find items at affordable prices - it’s a win-win,” Brittany said. “Owning a Kid to Kid, like any other business is not easy and takes a lot of learning, but it’s so worth it!”
