The Georgia Dental Association will host Give Kids A Smile Day on Friday, February 6 in conjunction with National Children’s Dental Health Month. Give Kids a Smile Day is held annually to provide no-cost, easily accessible dental services to local underserved children.

Georgia Dental Association Give Kids a Smile volunteers provide an estimated $100,000+ of donated dental care and services in just one day.

WHO:
--More than 500 children from local underserved families
--Dentists, hygienists, assistants and volunteers from across the state

WHAT/WHY:
Tooth decay is the single most common disease among children. By third grade it affects more than half of the children in Georgia and nearly one in four children aged two to 11 years old have untreated cavities in their baby teeth. Kids can’t study, sit still or focus when they are in pain.

Give Kids A Smile Day is held annually to:
--Provide free, easily accessible dental services to local, qualifying children.
--Raise awareness of untreated tooth decay in children and the importance of good oral health.

The Georgia Dental Association hosts Give Kids A Smile Day each February in conjunction with National Children’s Dental Health Month as a way to provide no-cost dental care to local underserved children. Georgia Dental Association volunteers provide an estimated $100,000+ of donated dental care and services in just one day.

The event is part of a nationwide initiative launched by the American Dental Association in 2003. Each year, more than 350,000 children nationwide benefit from Give Kids A Smile events.
