Italian born Dolcenero owners, Simone Acciai Nicola Cambuli and Francesca Mallus, are excited to announce the official opening of their new “gelateria,” and are excited to be the first on Main Street in Santa Monica to offer handcrafted, authentic Italian gelato made daily with fresh and local farmer’s market ingredients.

I have dreamed of opening a gelateria since 2008," says Mallus. “It’s incredible to see my dream finally become a reality.

Main Street in Santa Monica, California welcomes its first hand crafted, authentic gelato shop. Dolcenero offers Southern Californians not only an incredible assortment of gelato and sorbets, but also a cultural experience in high quality Italian gastronomy. It is the only place in Santa Monica, where gelato lovers can watch as it is made. Through a glass window behind the counter, customers can see it churning in what Dolcenero has coined “The Happiness Machine.”

The small gelato shop prides itself on using only hand selected natural ingredients such as fresh cream, sugar, fiber, eggs, IGP-certified Piedmont hazelnuts, 100% Sicilian Pistachio, chocolate, and top quality fruits locally grown and hand picked by co-owner, Francesca Mallus at the local and world famous Santa Monica farmer’s market. The fresh materials provide the gelato with its natural colors— no bright green for pistachio or vivid pink for strawberry.

Dolcenero owners, Simone Acciai, Nicola Cambuli, and Francesca Mallus, natives of Florence and Sardina, Italy, fell in love with gelato early in their lives.

Acciai has an MBA degree, Cambuli has an engineering degree, and Mallus has a Bachelor of Science in Herbal Sciences and works as a private chef in the Los Angeles area – specializing in Italian food. Ultimately, it was their shared passion for high-quality, authentic gelato that brought them together and inspired them to create Dolcenero with the help of investor and partner, Tyler Ris, the American amongst Italians and official taster of Dolcenero.

“I have dreamed of opening a gelateria since 2008,” says Mallus. “It’s incredible to see my dream finally become a reality.”

Dolcenero will "soft-open" its doors this Sunday March 15th, 2015 and promises an authentic Italian experience. It is Simone and Francesca’s goal to “bring a piece of Italy to Santa Monica” and with it, the best gelato in town. The official Grand Opening will follow in late March 2015.
