One of the great voices in Americana today... he's got all the chops and then some! Pam Jackson, US Americana News
Corpus Christie, Texas (PRWEB) February 24, 2015
Eric Sommer, Americana singer and guitar player, hits the highway in February for a 50-city tour that covers the East Coast, South, Texas South and the Carolinas. New songs from the upcoming record are featured on this tour, as well as the possible addition of a trio on some dates. Highlights for February will include:
Feb 23rd, Nashville, TN – Daisy Dukes
Feb 24th, Nashville, TN – Douglas Corner
Feb 25th, Memphis, TN - Radio Memphis & Java Cabana
Feb 26th, Meridian, Miss – Brickhouse
Feb 27th, Cullman, Al – Berkeley Bob’s
Feb 28th, Birmingham, AL – The Nick
Winter cold spells canceled a few January and early February shows when the temps dropped below zero. The entire schedule is available on Pollstar.
This Eric Sommer Americana/Roots Tour will be centered on new material from the upcoming record: The Word For World Is Forest, and will feature Mr. Sommers’ signature twang guitar sound. The backline contributes to the unique audio “wall of sound” approach, which derives from cheap guitars, played through a stack of 6-8 cheap amps with modifications. Also on the Tour will be two signature 1958 Silvertone Guitars, found, refurbished and sold dirt cheap to Eric by Carle Meine of Dave's Guitars, LaCrosse, WI.
Mr. Sommer’s backline features a collection of Fender amps, a Roland or two and a 1937 Vlaco Shield (National). The National delivers a raw, overdrive soundscape that is ideal for harmonica when used with the “Green Bullet” 40’s dispatcher mics, especially favored by Magic Dick of The J. Geils Band and Lee Oskar of WAR.
A new series was recently add to the Tour, which now includes dates in South Carolina and Georgia:
May 20th, Awendaw, SC – Awendaw Green
May 21st, North Charleston, SC – The Mill
May 22nd, Charleston, SC - Home Team BBQ
May 23rd, Savannah, GA – The Sentient Bean
A special date in Philadelphia has been added to the tour – World Café Live in Philadelphia will host Eric Sommer for a solo show on March 18th. Tickets are available at the WCL Box Office.
“Cover My Soul in Gasoline” off the “Rainy Day Karma” release has gained significant traction in the EU marketplace, and is featured on German and Dutch Alt Radio; this summer “Europe, Europe” reached 3.4 million plays and downloads in the EU.
“Every song on this record is radio ready, and we’ve never had a record with so many potential hits” said Gary Curry, CEO of Pea Patch Island Entertainment. P PIE has been working with Eric for the past year and will be coordinating and working advance duties on the EU Tours this coming fall.
