Radius Networks, Inc., the leading provider of mobile proximity services, today announced the release of QuickBeacon for Windows, the virtual proximity beacon for Microsoft Windows PCs and Surface Pro tablets tailored specifically for enterprise, retail point-of-sale, hospitality environments and others that use Windows devices in their delivery of customer services.

Proximity beacons are short range, Bluetooth Smart transmitters that can notify mobile devices when they come within range of the beacon (usually two to 100 feet). This micro-location proximity awareness can be leveraged to deliver a wide range of novel solutions, such as precision indoor navigation, automatic ticketing, auto-check-ins, loyalty programs, mobile pre-payments, guided museum tours and location-relevant offers and promotions.

"Until now, proximity beacon solutions were only for Apple’s iOS and Android. Unfortunately, that left out the millions of Windows computers and tablets used in enterprise environments, for home automation, retail point-of-sale applications, hotel registration and so many other applications. We are thrilled to be bringing beacons and proximity capabilities to the world of Windows," said David Helms, Radius Network’s Chief Product Officer.

"QuickBeacon for Windows is going to change how people think about beacons," said Chris Sexton, Director of Engineering at Radius Networks. "QuickBeacon for Windows combines native Windows configuration and control with Radius Networks’ market leading RadBeacon USB technology. QuickBeacon needs no batteries, and it goes wherever your Windows computer or tablet goes.”

"QuickBeacon for Windows is a great addition to our suite of proximity beacon technologies that also includes our RadBeacon proximity beacons, our iPhone and Android ProximityKit SDKs and our cloud-based proximity services. QuickBeacon is going to open up a whole new set of customers in the enterprise, retail, home and hospitality markets,” added Marc Wallace, CEO at Radius Networks. “Delivering QuickBeacon for Windows is continued proof that Radius Networks is the market leader in the enabling technologies that help developers and businesses deliver leading edge mobile proximity solutions to their customers."

QuickBeacon for Windows is available now through Radius Networks and its channel partners. To find out more about Radius Networks’ products and services or to purchase, visit http://www.radiusnetworks.com or Amazon.com.
