Great Sky Solar will be going to the Boston seaport area to attend BuildingEnergy, a conference and trade show, in the beginning of March. BuildingEnergy is sponsored by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) and attracts more than 3500 building professionals. Widely renowned as the most established high performance building and renewable energy conference in the region, BuildingEnergy features rigorous accredited educational sessions in addition to the trade show.

This year will be Great Sky Solar's first year at the conference; as such, they will not be exhibiting a booth. Instead, they will spend the conference's three days networking and trying to find someone to fill an open Journeyman position as they attempt to expand employment. They also intend to learn as much as they can from the educational sessions.

"We're really excited to be soaking up as much information about the latest and greatest technology as possible while we're there finding possible candidates who want to work with a worker-owned co-op," stated Great Sky Solar CEO Katherine Fisher.

Solar energy technology, efficient materials, and other green energy will be emphasized at the trade show. Great Sky Solar plans to keep an eye out for technology to make batteries more efficient when storing solar energy. With new solar energy technology, they hope to be able to remove homeowners completely from the grid.

Because the Boston area, much like the rest of the Northeast, is still covered in snow, Great Sky Solar has been unable to install many solar panels so far this year. Instead, Great Sky Solar has been focusing on increasing its sales and expanding its staff.

"More conferences like this are popping up all over the place; we went to PVAmerica last year and it was a blast. We expect the same vibe from the BuildingEnergy conference," Fisher explained. She later added, "Not everyone makes it a point to attend these sort of events. Once you start doing installations, you can get complacent. We make it a point to challenge ourselves and find out what's going on in the industry. If you don't put yourself in the right place at the right time, you're making yourself obsolete."

Great Sky Solar will be at BuildingEnergy from March 3 through March 5, 2015.
