More than ever, there is a need in the oncology space for information and education that specifically addresses the wide range of issues that patients, their family members and caregivers face. CONQUER™ meets that need.

Building on its commitment to provide oncology navigators and their patients with timely, relevant information, The Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) has launched a new publication titled, CONQUER: the patient voice ™ (CONQUER ™).

“Cancer has become a chronic condition that affects millions of people and their loved ones each year,” says Pam Rattananont Ferris, MPH, chief operating officer of AONN+. “More than ever, there is a need in the oncology space for information and education that specifically addresses the wide range of issues that patients, their family members and caregivers face from the time of diagnosis through survivorship and end of life. CONQUER™ is designed to meet that need.”

“We like to think of CONQUER™ as a compass that can help keep the patient and the family on course when facing a life threatening situation such as cancer,” says Lillie D. Shockney, RN, BS, MAS, program chair, AONN+. “This publication speaks to the patient going through treatment, survivors who have finished their treatment, loved ones who are functioning as caregivers and even members of the healthcare team.”

Each issue of this bimonthly publication features:

  •     Personal stories from patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals
  •     Advice on preparing for and managing costs related to cancer treatment
  •     Up-to-date news about the latest prevention strategies, screening recommendations and tools
  •     Articles about nutrition and survivorship and fulfilling life goals
  •     In-depth information on specific cancer types

“The first issue of CONQUER™ was published in February and patients can obtain their copy from any oncology navigator who is an AONN+ member,” says Rattananont Ferris. “They can also visit the CONQUER™ website (http://conquer-magazine.com/) to view exclusive content and sign up for their free subscription.”
