ProYo High Protein Frozen Yogurt, the innovative “anytime frozen treat” that packs 20 grams of protein in a 4-oz. squeeze tube, today announced the hiring of several key sales and marketing professionals to its leadership team:

  • Luke Gernandt joined ProYo on March 2 as vice president of sales from Think Products, where he served as director of sales – special markets.
  • Mike Fransz has been named vice president of marketing, after consulting with the company since its launch.
  • Shari Mock recently joined ProYo as vice president of operations. Previously, she was chief operating officer of Promax Nutrition.

ProYo Founder and President Nathan Carey also announced the signing of Natural/Specialty Sales (NSS) as its U.S. sales agency. NSS is a division of Acosta Sales & Marketing, the leading full-service sales and marketing agency in the consumer packaged goods industry. With this collaboration, ProYo transitions from working with regional brokers to partnering with NSS to generate retailer distribution in national supermarket chains and natural food stores.

Broken Arm Leads to ProYo
If ProYo founder Nathan Carey hadn’t suffered a multiple arm fracture while lifting weights a few years ago, he might never have come up with the idea to create ProYo.

Not that he was any stranger to frozen yogurt. At the time, he was the owner of Twin Cups, a popular drive-up spot in Santa Barbara he opened to offer custom-blended frozen yogurt, coffee, shakes and smoothies in the community he grew up in.

While he was in recovery, Carey was unsatisfied with many of the protein products on the market. He set out to create a high-protein frozen yogurt that was healthy, tasted great, and could be eaten on the go. After trying out an estimated 25-30 different types of proteins, consulting with nutritionists, seeking feedback from friends and customers, ProYo was born. It was launched at Expo West in 2013.
