Nelson Revenues Rise as Skills Gap Widens

Nelson announced today significant growth in 2014 revenue over the year prior, stating that as companies struggle to find the talent they need, they’re turning more and more to recruiting experts for help. In Nelson’s case, 2014 revenue was up 26% over the prior year. Key drivers to this organic growth were contract staffing, direct placement, and robust sales from the Nelson Compliance and iWorkGlobal divisions, which offer independent contractor services and global payrolling.

The Wall Street Journal in January cited 40% of survey respondents were having trouble filling jobs. In manufacturing, the number leaps to 75%. The American Staffing Association has created a skills gap index, identifying the most hard-to-fill roles. Most interesting about the index is that it includes not only high-tech but also “everyday positions” such as retail and customer service.
