OpenView Venture Partners Boosts Talent with New Head of Marketing Strategy

ExactTarget and Salesforce Marketing Cloud alum Kyle Lacy brings a wealth of enterprise marketing expertise to Boston-based VC.

OpenView Venture Partners, one of the world’s leading expansion-stage B2B software investment firms, announced today that Kyle Lacy will join the Boston-based VC as its new Head of Marketing Strategy. Lacy, who previously served as the Director of Global Content Marketing for Salesforce’s Marketing Cloud, brings a wealth of B2B SaaS and digital marketing experience to OpenView’s team, and will be responsible for helping the firm further develop its marketing strategy and portfolio support services.

Lacy began his career in enterprise digital marketing in 2012 when he was hired to lead ExactTarget’s content marketing team. He was instrumental in building that operation through ExactTarget’s $2.7 billion acquisition by Salesforce in 2013, and continued to lead content marketing for the Salesforce Marketing Cloud until 2015. Over that time, Lacy’s team managed content in six countries and contributed upwards of $15,000,000 in sales each quarter.

Prior to his roles with ExactTarget and Salesforce, Lacy co-founded a marketing agency that helped more than 350 businesses transform their digital marketing. He also published three books: “Twitter Marketing for Dummies,” “Social CRM for Dummies,” and “Branding Yourself.”

At OpenView, Lacy will leverage his experience to create content that helps expansion-stage B2B software companies scale their operations more effectively and efficiently. “OpenView has — and will continue to — revolutionize what it means to support and build successful software businesses,” Lacy said. “Delivering helpful, engaging content is a big part of that and I’m thrilled to be working with an incredibly creative and passionate group of people toward that goal.”
