When you are deciding your fee amount, consider that fee as your legacy to all the animals who enter our shelter daily.

Stockton Animal Shelter is celebrating the luck of the Irish and they are passing it along to the San Joaquin community! Starting Saturday, March 14th, and ending on Sunday, March 29th, SAS is hosting their first ever "Choose Your Luck...Choose Your Adoption Fee" promotion.

What does "choose your own adoption fee" mean? As long as one meets Stockton’s requirements to adopt, he gets to choose his adoption fee for cats and dogs 6 months or older. Be aware that the shelter still goes through the strict adoption process to make sure the animals go to the perfect home, so please make sure to bring a valid ID and proof of current address.

“The support from the community is what keeps Stockton Animal Shelter thriving and also what helps us throw adoption promotions like this,” says Phillip Zimmerman, the newly appointed manager at SAS. “When you are deciding your adoption fee amount, consider that fee as your legacy to all the animals who enter our shelter daily.”

“With your support and generosity, Stockton Animal Shelter can continue to grow our life-saving programs, especially our monthly adopt-a-thons. Let's all work together to find more pets homes,” Zimmerman added.

To really find that pot of gold, SAS will also be throwing a Choose Your Luck” St. Patrick’s Day party on Saturday, March 21st, from 11am – 5pm. The shelter will open up the adoption promotion to include ALL animals; meaning along with adult animals, puppies and kittens will be “choose your own adoption fee”.

Last month’s adoption promotion resulted in 267 adoptions in just 26 days. Shelter staff hopes to increase their adoption numbers for this month’s promotion.
