Reveries In Motion, based in Chicago, is a group of dancers, specializing in modern and contemporary jazz dance performances. This unique group of dancers refers to themselves as “activist dancers” in that they dance for a cause. Their goal is to always donate a portion of their proceeds to a charitable cause. At their “Happiness Is…” concerts on April 25 and 26, they plan on donating a portion of their profits to the Heartwood Foundation Women and Cancer Program. Tickets for the performances are $20.00 general admission and $15.00 for students, dancers, and seniors. Tickets can be purchased at: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1396413.

The Heartwood Foundation Women and Cancer Program was the recent recipient of the Carolyn Adams Ticket for the Cure grant of $25,000 from the Illinois Department of Public Health, Office of Women’s Health. The Heartwood Foundation Women and Cancer Program is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization providing wellness care services to lower income women over the age of 18, who live in the Chicagoland area and have had a cancer diagnosis. The program includes free acupuncture, massage or psychotherapy sessions, yoga, tai chi, meditation, a speaker’s bureau to provide educational programs to local organizations, and clinics and classrooms in Beverly, Evanston, Forest Park, Hyde Park, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Logan Square, Oak Park, Pilsen, Rogers Park, and West Town.

The Foundation has been serving local lower income women for over 10 years by providing a wide range of complementary therapies and classes free of charge. Because they are a 501 c(3) not-for-profit organization, independent from any social services agency, they are in large part funded solely by individual donors, fund-raising events and grants. While the WCP is proud of their accomplishments in serving local women and making a difference in their lives, the need for their services continues to grow each year.

To make an online contribution to the WCP, please visit the website at http://www.heartwoodwomenandcancer.org. Regardless of the amount, every donation helps the WCP to continue providing the high quality, compassionate care that program participants need.
