Shreveport-Bossier Attractions Association and the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau co-sponsor quarterly seminars

The goal of this workshop is to help attractions and hotels learn how to create packages that will boost profits and increase occupancy during slow season.

The Shreveport-Bossier Attractions Association and the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau will host its next quarterly seminar, entitled “Hotels and Attractions – Let’s Package,” 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., Monday, April 13 at Courtyard Marriott Louisiana Boardwalk, 100 Boardwalk Boulevard in Bossier City.

Seminar attendees will learn how to sell vacation packages and partner with nearby attractions and hotels. The workshop will focus on increasing visitor satisfaction, length of stay and spending by offering combined services. The workshop will be followed by a moderated question and answer panel with local packaging pros who will discuss how they’ve creatively packaged their businesses together to maximize sales.

Laine Garner, membership director for the Louisiana Travel and Promotion Association will be the featured speaker. Garner is an expert in working with hotels and attractions to create packages that travelers are looking to purchase.

“The goal of this workshop is to help attractions and hotels learn how to create packages that will boost profits and increase occupancy during slow seasons,” said Julia Foley, president of the Shreveport-Bossier Attractions Association. “Packages are a great sales and marketing tool, because guests who book a package are less likely to cancel their trip.”

Post-lunch panelists include Sara Kleinecke, group sales/marketing coordinator at Splash Kingdom Waterpark Shreveport; Lingay Davis, director of marketing at Chick-Fil-A on Youree Drive; Christy Wood, advertising and publicity manager at Margaritaville Resort Casino and Ashley Davis, marketing manager at Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets.

This free seminar is only for attractions, hotels, festivals and tourism-related businesses. Lunch will be provided. Advance registration is required and space is limited. To RSVP call (318) 222-9391. For more information on marketing programs offered by the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau, visit http://www.shreveport-bossier.org/partners.
