Contributions help support dental care and education as well as outreach in underserved areas where oral health services are needed the most.

Delta Dental of California, Delta Dental Insurance Company, Delta Dental of Pennsylvania and affiliated companies announced today that its 2014 contributions in support of dental education, community dental outreach and dental research reached a record $5.54 million dollars.

Company officials said the largest portion of the contributions, $2.69 million, was given by its philanthropic branch, The Delta Dental Community Care Foundation, to dental clinics and health care programs supporting underserved and low-income children and adults. An additional $1.25 million was spent on oral health education and promotion, and nearly $1 million supported various community groups and events in the companies’ 15-state region and the District of Columbia.

"As a leader in the dental industry, we take seriously our duty to reach out to communities to help improve access to dental care," said Gary D. Radine, president and CEO of Delta Dental of California and its affiliated companies. "Improving access means helping clinics and organizations that provide dental care to people in need – who would otherwise go without, due to financial barriers.”
