ValvTechnologies, Inc., the global leader in the design and manufacturing of zero-leakage high-performance isolation valve solutions, is proud to sponsor Empower UH, a University of Houston student organization working to address gender roles in the workplace.
Since its inception in 1987, ValvTechnologies has played an important role in the Houston community. In addition to significant charitable activities advancing the causes of organizations including Avondale House, Texas Children’s Hospital, Salvation Army Angel Tree program, Camp Eagle and others, ValvTechnologies supports local institutions of higher learning including Texas A&M, Rice University and the University of Houston.
Founded in 2012 at the University of Houston, Empower is devoted to fostering an inclusive dialogue on gender dynamics and promoting equality on campus and in the workplace. The group provides resources, education and support for students to help them deal with the challenges of the business world. In addition, Empower presents a variety of opportunities for personal growth for its male and female members including educational events, networking and social activities.
In Empower’s attempt to foster a community that will help women be successful, both during college and in the workplace, the group hosts various events throughout the year, including A (Wo)man’s World, an international women's education celebration, at the University of Houston’s Main Campus. The A (Wo)man’s World features exceptional women from around the Houston area speaking about their careers and the inevitable struggles along the way. These women leaders offer advice and encouragement to all members as well as guidance on preparing the students entering the workplace.
