This Spring, Americana Manhasset debuted its full color 60-page Spring Fashion Book, “Frock & Roll.” Spring ready-to-wear, accessories and jewelry from the most luxurious brands in the world are captured in a high-style picture book starring top runway and editorial models Hanne Gaby Odiele and Marlon Teixeira.
The campaign was inspired by the 1970s music scene and was photographed in various locations in and around Los Angeles, including at the world famous Whisky a Go Go club in Hollywood. Vintage guitars and furnishings were used throughout. Photographed, produced and styled by Laspata/DeCaro, the campaign pays homage to the culture and style of 1970s rock, following two young musicians from lounge-y days in Laurel Canyon to high-octane nights on the Sunset Strip.
Americana’s Spring Book was direct-mailed to 130,000 targeted households. The images were featured in national and regional print ads in publications such as The New York Times and T-Styles magazine and The World Journal newspaper, as well as in various digital media such as nyt.com. The campaign is also being shown prominently throughout the season on Americana’s website, americanamanhasset.com.
In conjunction with the still images, Americana Manhasset has debuted a short film, also entitled “Frock & Roll.” The hypnotic and sensual piece, starring Hanne Gaby Odiele and Marlon Teixeira, features custom music and a voiceover by both models in their role as creative, poetic and stylish musicians on their journey of discovery. The short film appears front and center on Americana’s website as well as in digital ads. The music and editing of the video piece exemplify the dramatic, edgy and highly editorial quality of the campaign.
"There was a clear infatuation with 1970s style on the runways for this spring. Designers were reinventing the 70s rocker look with a modern spin, which is what we decided to do with this campaign. There was a freedom and looseness to the culture back then and we tried to exemplify that with the styling of the images,” said Charles DeCaro. “While we had a very clear editorial voice and a strong vision for this campaign, it is the fashion and respective designers' messages that always remain the focus. We shoot a singular and appropriate photograph for each brand, from Prada and Dior to Max Mara and Theory, but each image also works as part of the whole.”
