More than 13,000 ophthalmic professionals gather to discuss exciting new advances in technology, engage in debates, and network with vendors from all over the world.

Medical Consulting Group Managing Principals William Rabourn, Jr., and Stephen Sheppard, as well as Principal Robert McCarville and Sales Consultant Tripp Rabourn, attended the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery’s (ASCRS) 2015 Symposium to trade ideas with some of ophthalmology’s top experts. ASCRS took place from April 17th to the 21st in San Diego, CA.

“The ASCRS is the largest annual meeting dedicated to cataract and refractive surgery specialists,” explains William Rabourn. “More than 13,000 ophthalmic professionals gather to discuss exciting new advances in technology, engage in debates, and network with vendors from all over the world. It’s a great opportunity to meet with clients face-to-face and learn from each other.”

This year, Steve Sheppard, founder of Medical Consulting Group’s ambulatory surgical center (ASC) development and management division, contributed to the educational conversations taking place. With Albert Castillo, Sheppard presented why and how an ASC should integrate additional services to keep up with the changing ophthalmic market place. Sheppard and Kevin Corcoran presented coping strategies for ASCs dealing with issues related to the Affordable Care Act.

Rabourn also represented Medical Consulting Group at the Ophthalmology Innovation Summit (OIS) held prior to ASCRS. The OIS, according to its chair members, is designed to build “business partnerships between CEOs of private companies, investors, industry executives, physicians, and academic scientists in the ophthalmic space.”

“Meetings like ASCRS and OIS are really a fundamental part of ensuring that eye care continues to improve,” says Robert McCarville, “and Medical Consulting Group is very proud to be a part of that every year. I look forward to finding out just how much farther we've come by this time next year.”
