We are honored to recognize these five extraordinary educators, and to celebrate the difference that all teachers make in the lives of the students they serve.
Vienna, VA (PRWEB) April 30, 2015
Envision announced today the winners of its nationwide search for the most inspiring teachers. Nominations were sought nationally from students and alumni of Envision programs, asking to hear about their most inspiring teacher. Each nomination showed how each teacher offers their own unique style of motivating and supporting their students.
Through Adopt-a-Classroom, Envision is giving each winner a $1,000 grant to support their teaching efforts. The winners, chosen by a panel of Envision’s education experts, are:
- Michelle Bellinger, Physics and Engineering Teacher at the Academy of Aerospace & Engineering, Hartford, CT
- Mike Lemons, Coordinator of the Mass Communications Department at Lewis & Clark Community College, Godfrey, IL
- David Lorentz, Religious Studies Teacher at St. Ignatius College Prepatory, San Francisco, CA
- Katherine Peeples, Gifted EducationSpecialist for Spotsylvania County Public Schools, Fredicksburg, VA
- Tameira Wilson, History Teacher & Academic Coordinator at Aspen High School, Aspen, CO
One student captured the spirit of the Envisionary Awards perfectly by saying, “The activities we participate in challenge us to be better students, listeners, learners, writers, readers, leaders, and overall better people who will be prepared to change the world for the better when we leave school.”
Another quoted Dan Rather who once said, “The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called ‘truth’.”
Envision CEO Duncan Young commented, “We are honored to recognize these five extraordinary educators, and to celebrate the difference that all teachers make in the lives of the students they serve. Great teachers inspire, motivate and make a fundamental difference in helping young people find their passion and set a path for their future. These individuals certainly demonstrate these qualities.”
