LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) May 01, 2015
International law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP Shareholder Jordan Grotzinger and Of Counsel Adam Siegler participated in the Beverly Hills Bar Association’s Entertainment and IP, Internet & New Media section’s Drone Law panel April 30, 2015, in Beverly Hills, California. The panel included Mike Rivard, CEO and founder of Radflight, a leading manufacturer and consultant in the Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), or “drone,” business.
The panel discussion focused on current federal statutes, the proposed rules issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and new state and federal legislative activity with regard to UAS, commonly known as “drones.” The speakers provided an analysis of the rules for: (a) operations by governmental agencies pursuant to a Certificate of Authorization; (b) commercial operations pursuant to exemptions from the existing regulations; and (c) the “model aircraft” exception for non-commercial use by hobbyists. In addition to discussing a variety of commercial uses for drones, including real estate and construction, advertising, and the future development of drone delivery services, the panel covered topics that are of particular interest to the Los Angeles market, such as aerial camera footage for film and television and the balancing of First Amendment and privacy rights.
