Turner Construction Company is pleased to announce that on May 6, the company’s 113th anniversary, volunteers from its offices around the world will roll up their sleeves and mark the day by participating in community service projects.
Turner’s commitment to making a difference in the lives of our people, customers and community is rooted in the belief that service is an essential part of good corporate citizenship. Our people actively engage in community partnerships throughout the year, sponsoring, supporting, and participating in a wide variety of programs focused on youth education, health and welfare, and improving the viability of local businesses.
In one day, teams of Turner volunteers from offices across the United States, as well as the company’s offices in Canada, Mexico, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Russia, Kazakhstan and others, will come together and commemorate Founders’ Day by partnering with local organizations to give back to their communities.
Service projects and activities range from stocking shelves and serving meals at soup kitchens to participating in home-builds. For example, employees from the San Diego, California office are looking forward to lending a hand at the San Diego Food bank; volunteers from the Montvale, New Jersey office are gearing up to partner with the St. Bernard Project to repair and rebuild homes damaged by Hurricane Sandy; a team from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office will complete a number of landscaping and minor construction projects at the Walnut Hill Community Farm; and a group from the Miami, Florida office will help run a Special Olympics golf outing.
“Our people will work more than 100 organizations in one day, donating a total of more than 6,000 work-hours,” said Karen Sweeney, senior vice president. She continued, “The wide range of service activities reflects the diverse skills and interests of our people and needs in our communities. A day focused on community service in honor of our Founder, Henry C. Turner, is a great way to showcase and share our company culture, celebrate our anniversary and prove that one day can truly make a difference.”
