New York, New York (PRWEB) May 07, 2015
Karen Harvey, founder and CEO of Karen Harvey Consulting Group, announces the second annual Founders of the Future Challenge, which discovers and provides industry wide exposure and mentorship to the most innovative fashion and tech brands of the future. The competition will culminate live on stage with Karen Harvey and ELLE Editor-in-Chief Robbie Myers at Fashion Tech Forum (FTF) on June 11th in New York City at Pier 36. Last year, Fashion Tech Forum brought together the most exceptional CEO’s innovators, thinkers, founders and investors in fashion, retail, media and technology. This year’s conference will be focused on wearable technology, the future of retail, personalization, sustainability, and company culture.
The Founders of the Future Challenge is a world-class competition where only the most exceptional startups will be selected as finalists to compete for a $50,000 award presented by ELLE Editor in Chief Robbie Myers and Karen Harvey. The winning founders will also receive six weeks of mentorship, provided by ELLE and FTF, during which, some of fashion and tech’s most highly successful leaders will offer them insight, support and guidance. Last year, this rigorous competition received hundreds of submissions. Rank & Style, an e-commerce site that offers a revolutionary way to simplify how you discover your next favorite fashion, beauty and lifestyle product won the coveted award. Rank & Style CEO, Sarika Doshi said of winning last years Founders of the Future Challenge "That conference and that platform, and being in that room in such a visible way, allowed us access to partnerships that we really only dreamed of a little while ago. It was such a powerful turning point for us to be able to be engaging in conversations with retailers, with media partners and everyone in between. And we still, a year later, find ourselves at meet-ups or networking events and people will say, “I saw you at FTF.” It adds a dose of credibility to what we do, for which we are so grateful."
A committee of industry experts will narrow down this year’s pool of applicants to three finalist teams who will present their concepts live on stage at FTF where they will be judged by a panel of top tier fashion and tech industry leaders, including Anne Slowey, Fashion News Director, ELLE, Steven Alan, CEO, Steven Alan, Scott Dadich, Editor-in-Chief, Wired Magazine, and Ken Seiff, Managing Director, Beanstalk Ventures. The team deemed to have the most compelling early-stage brand development or business concept will receive the Founders of the Future award. Companies or teams who have developed a new product that solves a problem and/or created a new market in fashion and tech will be considered as potential Founders of the Future finalist candidates based on their challenge submissions. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate proof of concept and have been in business for two years or less. Entries will be evaluated on a variety of factors including the vision of the company’s founders, the product’s scalability, and its potential disruptive nature in the marketplace. Interested applicants should apply immediately.
