MADISON, ME (PRWEB) May 14, 2015
Backyard Farms, the largest grower of year-round tomatoes in New England, is pleased to announce that Shannon Bard, a rising star in the New England culinary scene, has joined Backyard Farms as an exclusive member of its Chef Network. Chef Bard is the recent winner of Food Network's "Kitchen Inferno" and has appeared on “Beat Bobby Flay."
Bard, also the owner of Zapoteca Restaurante Y Tequileria in Portland, Maine and Mixteca Taqueria Y Cantina in Durham, New Hampshire, is dedicated to offering authentic seasonally influenced Mexican dishes with a bold and innovative flair. Backyard Farms will work with Chef Bard to bring consumers delicious recipes, cooking demonstrations and social media promotions.
“Long before joining the Backyard Farms Chef Network, I supported and used Backyard Farms tomatoes both at home and in my restaurants. You just can’t get a better, more consistently delicious tomato in the off-season in Maine,” said Bard. “I greatly respect how Backyard Farms conducts its business, especially due to its employment of more than 200 Maine residents year-round.”
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Chef Bard on our roster of Chef Network partners,” said Jim Darroch, Backyard Farms’ Director of Marketing. “There is no better compliment than having a New England chef of her caliber love our tomatoes and appreciate the passion that goes into growing them.”
Backyard Farms understands that tomatoes are a key element to creating delicious recipes, and believes the best chefs value access to fresh tomatoes, especially in the off-season months. That’s why Backyard Farms is committed to learning from and listening to chefs to find out what they want in a tomato and what types of tomatoes they like to see in the marketplace, for mutual benefit.
Commented Darroch, “We’re looking forward to seeing what Chef Bard whips up with our tomatoes, with the goal of our customers benefitting from this partnership.”
