Colleen’s Dream Foundation, in conjunction with the Arizona law firm Renaud Cook Drury Mesaros, PA (RCDM), is offering financial support to the University of Arizona Cancer Center in its efforts to develop methods for early detection of ovarian cancer. The support comes in the form of a $10,000 research grant.
The American Cancer Society estimates that nearly 23,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2015, and more than 14,000 will die from the disease (American Cancer Society, 2014, http://www.cancer.org/cancer/ovariancancer/detailedguide/ovarian-cancer-key-statistics).
Colleen’s Dream Foundation was created with the goal of supporting research for early detection and improved treatment for ovarian cancer. The Foundation began after Colleen Drury was diagnosed with late-stage ovarian cancer in 2007, and her family became aware that early detection can lead to a better prognosis.
Colleen was a legal nurse consultant who worked with her husband, Bill Drury, at RCDM. Two of their daughters worked as attorneys at the firm, as well.
"This grant is very special for Colleen's Dream,” says Nicole Cundiff, Executive Director of Colleen's Dream Foundation . “My mom, Colleen, dedicated herself to Renaud Cook Drury Mesaros as a legal nurse consultant, working on cases with our father, Bill, for more than 20 years. In the last five years of her life, Michelle and I both practiced at the firm and truly loved having the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with her as well. The people at RCDM were like family to her.”
Bill Drury, a Senior Partner at RCDM, says he is honored to join Colleen’s Dream Foundation it its fight against ovarian cancer.
"Early detection research is a key component in the war against ovarian cancer,” says Drury. “It is an honor to partner with Colleen’s Dream Foundation in the fight against this insidious disease.”
The grant will be used to support ongoing research being conducted at the University of Arizona Cancer Center.
“It is only fitting that the RCDM grant go to the University of Arizona Cancer Center where Dr. Chambers and her team gave our mom her best chance at life,” says Cundiff. “We are grateful to both RCDM and the U of A and this grant means a great deal to us at Colleen's Dream."

ABOUT COLLEEN’S DREAM FOUNDATION:
Colleen’s Dream Foundation started in 2012 and supports research for early detection and improved treatment for ovarian cancer. The story of Colleen’s Dream started in 2007 when Colleen Drury –Nicole Cundiff’ mother and Billy Cundiff’s mother-in-law- was diagnosed with late-stage ovarian cancer. The family became aware of a new world that was filled with invasive surgery, harsh chemotherapy, and lots of uncertainty, and realized they needed to help others who were dealing with ovarian cancer.
Colleen’s Dream Foundation believes it is important to raise money for research that will lead to reliable early detection testing and improved treatment for ovarian cancer. Because so little is known about ovarian cancer in proportion to other women’s health issues, there is an incredible opportunity for research and education.
Colleen's Dream Foundation is a qualified 501 (c)(3) tax exempt non-profit organization based in Phoenix, Arizona.
