The Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) announced today that its Walking and Wellness Challenge, held this past weekend during the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer, has raised another $3,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City. LPGA’s Natalie Gulbis undertook the challenge, recording 32,000 steps on her fitbit during her play at the tourney, held at Stockton Seaview Hotel & Golf Club in Galloway Township.

When added to Horizon BCBSNJ’s original donation of $2,500, the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City will receive $5,500 in operational support through the charitable challenge.

“We commend Natalie for helping Horizon more than double the size of our grant to the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City,” said Jonathan R. Pearson, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility for Horizon BCBSNJ. “Natalie has been a true champion for Boys & Girls clubs everywhere and she leaves here as a true champion for the local chapter by stepping it up for the Horizon BCBSNJ Walking and Wellness Challenge.”

“Thanks to the support of Horizon and Natalie Gulbis, our club will be better able to offer children quality programs and serve the needs of Atlantic City’s youth,” said Sam Young, President of the Board of Trustees, Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City. “We are extremely grateful to Natalie for her efforts on behalf of our club and clubs all across the country, and to Horizon for its generous charitable contribution.”

Since the LPGA started tracking charitable contributions in 1981, the cumulative donations from the LPGA and LPGA Tour events has totaled more than $200 million, $28 million of which comes from the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer
