APT announced today that it has been selected as a 2015 Gartner “Cool Vendor” in Analytics.

Applied Predictive Technologies (APT) is proud to announce that it has been selected as a 2015 Gartner “Cool Vendor” in Analytics.* The Gartner report says that “Cool Vendors tend to be cool because they enable actions and insights that were not possible before.” Four Cool Vendors were chosen from a shortlist of dozens of vendors selected by analysts in Gartner's analytics research community.

APT is a leading cloud-based analytics software company that enables organizations to rapidly and precisely measure cause-and-effect relationships between business initiatives and outcomes to generate economic value. APT’s proprietary Test & Learn® software utilizes sophisticated algorithms to analyze large amounts of customer and third-party data, enabling business leaders to conduct experiments and allowing them to make optimal decisions and implement business initiatives at scale. Typically, business leaders make decisions based on information that is often incomplete, unreliable, or irrelevant, forcing them to rely on intuition, which can lead to sub-optimal outcomes. Organizations have attempted to solve this problem by utilizing reporting, correlation, and other traditional analytics. However, none of those approaches offer truly predictive cause-and-effect analytics. APT’s Test & Learn® solution utilizes sophisticated cause-and-effect analytics to address key strategic and tactical questions by testing potential business initiatives, such as:

  • How does remodeling my stores impact sales?
  • Which items should I put on the value menu?
  • To which customers should I promote bundled cable, internet, and phone services?
  • Should I fulfill online orders from my local store or a distribution center?
  • How long should my bank branches remain open by location?
  • Which employee training program generates better customer satisfaction or profits?

For each new initiative that is tested, APT’s software determines whether the initiative worked, how well it worked, which elements were most effective, and how it can be targeted by location, customer, or employee for maximum impact. Over 120 leading companies across the globe, including Walmart, Starbucks, Coca-Cola, Victoria’s Secret, American Family, Hilton Hotels, SUBWAY, TD Bank, and T-Mobile, use APT’s software.

Gartner recommends that “analytics teams should investigate Cool Vendors to identify emerging gaps in their portfolio of tools and applications. Do not leap to automatically fill these gaps, but discuss with business users what level of priority to attach to adding this capability. Further, line of business decision makers should investigate Cool Vendors to identify possible solutions to business problems or potential areas for business transformation. Ensure that colleagues from the business intelligence (BI) and information management teams are involved in the vendor selection process, as many of these vendors offer solutions that are unconventional by traditional corporate attitudes to analytics.”

APT CEO Anthony Bruce commented, “We are excited to be named a Gartner Cool Vendor. APT’s software helps leading global companies make more data-driven decisions each day, and it’s gratifying to be identified as a Cool Vendor in this space. Gartner is a global leader in technology research, so we’re honored that they have recognized APT in this report.”

APT has also received various accolades for its product suite, receiving four International Business Awards and being named a Red Herring Top 100 North America Winner in 2014.
