BAY PINES, FL (PRWEB) June 03, 2015
The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System (VAHCS) will hold a special event as part of the Veterans Health Administration’s (VHA) National Women Veterans Campaign on June 12. The event will take place in the JC Cobb room located on the first floor of the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Women Veterans and their families, Veteran Service Organizations, other stakeholders, and the general public are invited to attend. The event will showcase various VA health care resources available for women Veterans to include VA health care enrollment and eligibility, women’s health, homeless Veteran services, mental health, health promotion and disease prevention, and employment services. Representatives from the Veterans Benefits Administration, National Cemetery Administration, Vet Center and Florida Department of Veterans Affairs will also be in attendance.
“Across the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System’s service area, we serve approximately 8,200 women Veterans,” said Suzanne M. Klinker, Director, Bay Pines VAHCS. “These heroes have access to exceptional services to meet their health care needs and empower their health.
“There are many more women Veterans who are not taking advantage of the VA benefits they have earned and deserve through their military service,” she said. “That is really what the Women Veterans Campaign is all about – it is an opportunity to showcase our services to women Veterans and recognize their courage, sacrifice and service to our nation.”
Another highlight of the event is the formal program scheduled from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. The program will feature several guest speakers to include a keynote address from Dr. Betty Moseley Brown, Associate Director, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Center for Women Veterans. As Associate Director for VA’s Center for Women Veterans, Dr. Moseley Brown serves as the facilitator for VA’s National Summit on Women Veterans’ Issues – a major training and outreach event for women Veterans, women Veterans advocates and other federal agencies that provide services to women Veterans. She has also been instrumental in promoting national awareness of the contributions made by women who served in the military through multiple department-wide efforts, such as VA’s “Her Story” campaign and a video titled “Faces Behind the War.”
The C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center is one of only five VA sites across the country selected to hold an event as part of the national campaign.
