Sculptor Gesso Cocteau Announces Commission from Hard Rock Corp. to Do Life Size Sculpture for Hard Rock Cafe in Athens, Greece
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) June 21, 2015 -- Indian Wells-based artist Gesso Cocteau has been commissioned by Hard Rock Corporate to create a life size sculpture for the Hard Rock Café Athens, located at 52 Adrianou Street in Monastiraki, just a stone’s throw away from the historic city center with stunning views of the Acropolis.
The piece, titled “Woodstock 2,” is the eleventh commission for the internationally renowned restaurant chain. Her sculptures also grace the presence of Hard Rock International in Orlando, Fla.; Hard Rock Café, in Boston Mass.; Hard Rock Café in Rome, Italy and Hard Rock Café in Berlin, Germany. She also designed two different awards trophies for the company’s annual corporate events.
The piece will reside at the Café Athens and will be installed approximately in November of 2015.
“I was asked to create a piece that celebrates both peace and music,” describes Gesso. “I always seem to draw inspiration from the Woodstock era for these Hard Rock works. That time in music was prolific and to this day, the single most profound event in the history of music. What I love about creating for Hard Rock is the philosophy the company was based on, of which they’ve managed to stay true to its original intentions.”
