The Lung Institute is providing innovative procedures for patients with debilitating conditions and will be a prime location for patients in Pittsburgh.

The Lung Institute opened its newest clinic on Monday, July 13, 2015. The opening of the Pittsburgh clinic marks the fourth clinic the Lung Institute has opened since their inception in 2013. The new Pittsburgh clinic has provided several new jobs for healthcare workers in the Western Pennsylvania area. The Tampa-based company has brought several new jobs to the Tampa area as well, emulating the growth that the city of Tampa is currently experiencing.

More jobs in Tampa mirrors the city’s growth and Vinik’s dream for a better place to live. Lightning owner Jeffrey Vinik has become a local celebrity in Tampa for his expansion and growth plans for downtown Tampa’s Channelside area. His $1 billion plan proposes to build three million square feet of development on the city’s waterfront.

"What we're doing is completing the plan city planners dreamed up long ago," Vinik stated when he revealed the plan to the city’s top public figures.

The Lung Institute now has clinics in Tampa, Nashville, Scottsdale and Pittsburgh, and plans to continue to expand throughout the country. Traditionally there have been limited treatment options for those who suffer from debilitating lung diseases like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary fibrosis, and interstitial fibrosis. Stem cell therapy at the Lung Institute helps patients regain a better quality of life by treating the source of the disease rather than just the symptoms.

Lung Institute doctors have a variety of backgrounds, from bariatric surgery to medical service in the U.S. Navy to family practice; all doctors have come together at the Lung Institute because they believe that stem cells are the future of healthcare.

“The science brought us here,” Dr. Huffman says of stem cell therapy for pulmonary disorders. Stem cell therapy began in the 1950s, and has been a topic of extensive research and study since. Today it is providing those with debilitating lung diseases options when it comes to their healthcare, and, ultimately, their lives.

To date, the Lung Institute has treated over 1,000 patients with stem cell therapy, and is excited to increase the number of improved lives with the new clinic. Dr. Jack Coleman, Jr, MD, is the Medical Director for the Lung Institute in Pittsburgh. He earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and also completed his internship and general surgery residency at the institution. Dr. Coleman strives to ensure that all treatments and staff will follow strict standards with the highest excellence in personalized patient care.

“I am very excited about these new facilities opening,” says Dr. Coleman. “The Lung Institute is providing innovative procedures for patients with debilitating conditions and will be a prime location for patients in Pittsburgh.”
