The Beauty Changes Lives Foundation (BCL) announced that Howard Murad, M.D., will be the 2016 Legacy Award honoree. The announcement took place during a celebratory reception at Cosmoprof on Sunday, July 12. Dr. Murad is the fourth honoree to receive the award which recognizes the legacy of beauty individuals who nurture, mentor, support and inspire the next generation of beauty professionals. A celebration of Dr. Murad’s contributions to beauty and wellness education will be held during America’s Beauty Show, on Saturday, March 12, 2016, in Chicago.
Dr. Murad is the first wellness professional to be honored with the Legacy award and the first recipient to represent the esthetics and wellness sectors. “Dr. Murad’s Inclusive Health philosophy and program has empowered so many people to not just look better, but also to live better,” said Beauty Changes Lives Foundation President Lynelle Lynch. “The Beauty Changes Lives selection panel was inspired by Dr. Murad’s efforts to integrate beauty and wellness into his life and work; and his commitment to lifelong learning.”
Dr. Murad has been an ongoing supporter of BCL and its efforts to advance professional education while elevating the perception of careers in beauty and wellness. The Legacy Award was established by BCL in 2012. Previous honorees include entrepreneur and hairstylist legend Vidal Sassoon (2012), actress and nail industry pioneer Tippi Hedren (2013), and most recently Pivot Point founder and lifelong advocate for professional beauty education, Leo Passage who was awarded the 2015 Legacy award for his efforts to support emerging next generation talent.
